Let's Talk Turkey: Thanksgiving Tour

17 & 18 November 2023 | 1:30 PM

Have you ever wondered why we have Thanksgiving and how it's been represented in art? Well, we briefly considered these two imponderables and then decided to move on to something more fun. Do you know how many turkeys Americans eat at Thanksgiving? Or, who made Thanksgiving a national holiday? These will be the burning questions challenging us as we rafter up and strut our stuff from gobble squabbles to National prominence. So, please join us for a glimpse into the life and times of Tom Turkey.

Dino Walk at the Norton

Wednesday | 22 November 2023 | 11:00 AM

It's Thanksgiving Break and you need to keep the kids entertained! So, join the Norton Staff and the dino crew for a fun-filled Dino Walk through our gardens on Wednesday, November 22nd at 11:00 am. We will explore the “jungle,” roar like a T-rex, fly like a Pterodactyl, and we might even see a REAL dinosaur! (*wink wink*)

This event is free and open to anyone but geared toward ages 2-7. We will meet on the south lawn. Make an afternoon of it and bring a picnic to enjoy after the walk.

Holiday Book Fair & Family Day

Saturday | 16 December 2023 | 11:00 AM-5:00 PM

The R.W. Norton Art Gallery and Caddo Association of School Librarians will be hosting a Holiday Book Fair & Family Day on Saturday, 16 December from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Norton. This Scholastic Book Fair will feature books and gifts for all ages, and is the perfect time to shop for that last minute gift for the child in your life!  Sales from the book fair will benefit Caddo students and school libraries by providing books, incentives, and funding for author visits. We will also be collecting donations and books to help the Southern Hills Elementary School rebuild their library. Additionally, the Norton will be collecting coats for children in need and stuffed animals for first responders to provide comfort for children in emergency situations.

During this event, there will be storyteller readings, activities, a holiday exhibition, string quartet performances, and MORE! We hope to see you there!
